Kobe Bryant sustained a serious, grade 3 achilles tendon tare during Friday night's game against that Golden State Warriors. The well known 34-year-old guard for the Los Angeles Lakers, Bryant had surgery the next day on his injured left tendon. Dr. Neal ElAttrache, who did Kobe Bryant's knee surgery in 2008, performed again for his torn left tendon. The doctors, along with Lakers' trainers are saying that Kobe will need at least six to nine months for recovery.

Kobe Bryant's injury comes at a difficult time for the L.A. Lakers who plan on making serious financial cut-backs for the next NBA season. Bryant is in his seventeenth season, and his contract with the team is scheduled to make him $30 million in the upcoming year. The Lakers have the ability to cancel Bryant's contract sometime in this summer, although many people have their doubts that they will.
